In early 1984, area ministers came together to plan for a centralized non-profit agency to serve community members in need of food, clothing and financial assistance. The result was the founding of Bedford Christian Ministries in December 1984. With a budget of $2,000, BCM opened for business in a small house (now demolished) on Washington St. near Main Street UMC. In August 1995, we moved to our current location at 217 W. Washington St.
In the nearly 30 years since Johnson"s Furniture Store became the Bedford Christian Services Building, the Holy Spirit has inspired and guided the hundreds of volunteers who have served thousands of their neighbors through Bedford Christian Ministries, The Shepherd's Table and the Bedford Free Clinic. It is their love of their neighbors that transformed a furniture store into one of the many rooms in God's house.
Bedford Christian Ministries is an all-volunteer non-profit charity seeking to do God's work by serving members of the Bedford community who are in need of assistance. We are always seeking new volunteers in all areas of service.
Donations of food and clothing are welcome during our open hours.
